Story

patchy the autobot was one of ten pieces composed for the École de Musique de Saint-Chamond. I love musical typography, and this piece was a way for me to explore how the placement of the symbols we use in music effects our reading of them. I also fell back in love with LilyPond's Feta font and her layout algorithms, both of which I shaped and molded to make fermatas fly, beams dance, clefs crawl, etc...

Although patchy was written for Saint-Chamond, it was not until my residence in Hazebrouck that I got a chance to hear it played many times by Cléa Dechambre, Marie Senser and Céline Deblonde.
