granini di luce beccucciati da uccelli di silenzio was written for the Forme Uniche della Continuità nello Spazio composition competition. Based on a poem by Sara Davidovics which is itself based on a poem by Maria Ginanni, the work is my first an only attempt to through-compose a piece strictly based on the text of a poem (and, by extension, the text's form). As the original poem is stark-raving mad, the work itself becomes a sort of piece of absurdist theater. The score is my first effort in extended notation via LilyPond, which resurfaces in other pieces such as patchy the autobot.
